The following is John's obituary that was published in the Clovis (New Mexico) News Journal.
John L. Dillon, age 68, of Clovis, NM died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at his home in Clovis. Born April 8, 1939, to Carmel James Dillon and Helen Arlene Hamilton Dillon in Springfield, OH. Married Rosa Margarita Natal April 6, 1963, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a TSgt for the US Air Force for 21 years and a Carrier for the US Postal Service for 23 years. John was a member at Central Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Plattsburg, NY. He loved fishing, bowling, woodworking, watching the grandkids, playing sports, coin collecting, and drinking coffee with his buddies.
John is survived by his wife Margarita Dillon of the home; two daughters, Karena Jo (Lance) Langan of Clovis, NM, and Deborah Joyce (Bill) Christian of Borger, TX; five grandchildren, Jonathan and Hanna Langan, and Kelsey, Kollin, and Britt Snipes; and two sisters, Bonnie Sue (Ray) Logan of Mechanicsburg, OH, and Beverly (Tom) Paradis of Ocala, FL five nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmel and Helen Dillon.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be USPO Postal Carriers, Don Reid, Paul Matherly, Ryan Elliott, Albert Crespin, Paul Schoolcraft, and Dick Smith. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1856, Clovis, NM 88101, or Plains Regional Home Healthcare and Hospice, 2217 Dillon St., Clovis, NM 88101.
