A Poem by Janice

Life After Sixty Seven

Ahhh, how the years have tip-toed away;
Old age has pounced upon us,
First with the deterioration of sight,
Then the disappearance of sounds,
What grave sin must we have committed
For our bodies to toy with our minds
Such as this?

Golden years? Where? When?
What a grievous injustice for man;
We have so much more to offer
But our lives are cut short.
Wherewithal this wisdom?
Cut down in our prime,

Alas, I sit quietly and
Accept my lot in life,
For I know not what is on the morrow;
I believe laughter must be the key.
